Offline E-Learning Labs (E-LLs)
We've installed Offline E-Learning Labs (E-LLs) in 15 rural schools using RACHEL (Remote Area Community Hotspot for Education and Learning) servers and wireless tablets. These labs don't require internet and provide Learners with a digital library, videos, games, and exercises, all customized for learners with visual, hearing, and intellectual disabilities.
Key Features:
- Interactive offline learning
- Tailored for special needs
- Self-paced, student-friendly content
Inclusion Workshops
Learners with disabilities face exclusion, and girls face even deeper barriers. Embrace is testing whether workshops designed and delivered by professionals living with disabilities can improve classroom inclusion and attitudes among Grade 5 and 6 Learners.
Methodology:
- Qualitative and quantitative impact research
- Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) model
- Led by Ugandan professionals with disabilities
Menstrual Hygiene and Reproductive Health Training
We promote dignity and confidence among adolescent girls by integrating menstrual hygiene education with our education programs. We run menstrual pad-making workshops and provide health information to reduce school absenteeism.
This program addresses a critical barrier to education for girls in rural communities, where lack of access to menstrual products and education can lead to missed school days and decreased academic performance.
Did you know? Many girls in rural Uganda miss up to 20% of the school year due to inadequate menstrual hygiene management resources and education.
Teacher E-Learning Training
Our specialized program provides tailored teacher training modules for 120 educators across 15 schools (10 original + 5 expansion schools). Workshop content equips teachers with knowledge about disabilities and effective strategies to engage special needs Learners using specialized applications on our RACHEL servers.
Training Highlights:
- Differentiated instruction techniques for diverse learning needs
- Assistive technology integration with Uganda's approved curriculum
- Effective behavior management strategies for inclusive classrooms
Success Story: Our recent teacher conference brought together educators from all 15 participating schools to share experiences and best practices, creating a sustainable community of practice for inclusive education.
